DIY Origami Lamp
previous post
If you’re interested in new room decor, you’ve come to the right place. This lamp gives a simplistic and geometric addition to any room with just a sheet of paper and ten minutes.
Part 0: Materials
You will need:
(Required)
(Optional, to give power to the LED)
If you don’t have the optional materials, consider using a nightlight or any other LED, but make sure the light doesn’t emit heat. If this is the case, it could be a fire hazard.
Part 1: Lampshade
To create the paper lampshade, I used a pattern from this video. Diagrams are also shown below. Note that you should unfold the paper after each step.
Step 1.
Step 2.
Step 3.
Step 4.
Step 5.
At this point, you should have a pattern that looks like this.
Now, fold seven lines horizontally.
Step 7.
After that, roll the paper into a cylinder and connect the ends with tape/glue.
Step 8.
Finally, press in every square along the edges such that they are concave.
Part 2: Electronics
I started off by stripping a pair of wires. This can be done with pliers or wire strippers.
I soldered the wires to the LED and attached the LED to a cardboard base.
I attached the other ends of the wires to the DC Adapter.
After attaching your lampshade to the base, you’re done!
