If you’re out of ice cream and can’t go to the grocery store or just looking for a fun way to pass the evening with your family, this ice cream recipe is worth a shot! It’s hands-on, easy, and tastes great – all ingredients for a fun afternoon.
This recipe was made as a pair along with our easy crème brûlée recipe.
Ingredients:
- 2 gallon Ziploc bags
- 1 cup of milk (if you have heavy cream, you can use 1/2 cup of each)
- 1.5 tbsp of sugar
- 1/2 tsp of vanilla extract
- 1/3 cup of salt
- Lots of ice
Expected time – 10-15 minutes
Step-by-Step
- Mix together the heavy cream and/or milk, sugar, and vanilla.
- Fill 3/4 of one of the gallon bags 3/4 with ice and 1/3 cup of salt. The salt lowers the freezing point of the ice and allows its temperature to drop below water’s freezing point in order to allow the cream mixture to freeze.
- Place the cream mixture into a Ziploc bag and put it inside the bag full of ice.
- Shake the bag for around 5 minutes and remove the inner bag, rinse it off.
- Enjoy!
