Want to make an origami jumping frog? Follow this simple tutorial! All you need is a square piece of paper. Feel free to add googly eyes or a red tongue for fun.
1. Begin by folding the paper diagonally. Unfold and fold diagonally again in the opposite direction. When the paper is unfolded, the creases should form an X shape.
2. Fold the parts that are marked with red dots (on the picture below) towards the center. The result will be like the triangle shaped base, also known as the water-bomb base, displayed in the second picture.
3. Next fold the corner of the triangle towards the top of the triangle. Do the same with the other corner.
4. Fold the two corners of the newly shaped square towards the center of the square. Your paper should look like this.
5. Flip the frog over and you will see a triangle. Grab two corners of the triangle and fold it inwards toward the center as shown on the pictures below.
6. Grab the red spot and fold it outwards until the edges align. Do the same with the other side.
7. This is the step in which you give your paper frog the ability to jump. You’ll have to fold the back of the frog on places indicated with the blue and red line. You should make a total of two folds.
All done! Press the back part of the frog and they will jump!
If you want to make the frog cuter or more interesting, use a glue stick to add googly eyes and a tongue! Now your frog is ready to soar through the air with each jump.
