Whether for breakfast, snacks, or post-workout drinks, protein shakes are perfect. Having high nutritional value and varying flavors, they are something that everyone should incorporate into their diet. In this article, I will be showing you just how easy it is to modify your own shake.
You will need:
A scoop (or about 1.5 tablespoons) of protein powder
A cup of milk
Half- cup of ice
Banana
Anything else that you find interesting in this article!
First things first, you will need some protein in the protein shake. This can come from
many different things. This includes whey protein, casein protein, egg protein, and many other plant-based proteins. All of these ingredients are very easy to find in your local grocery store or supermarket. However, if you want more protein than just the powder, there is always milk, peanut butter, coconut milk, almond milk, and much more. Basically, anything with a high protein content will do (keep in mind that some protein powders are already modified with flavors such as chocolate).
After the protein, there are other things that will go into the shake. One thing that I always like to put in is a banana. They provide a smooth texture to the mix and add in nutrients such as potassium. However, this is optional.
Next up is the ice. Ice doesn’t do much for shakes other than thickening it and cooling it down. This is completely optional.
After the ice, you will need a sweetener. Natural sweeteners such as maple syrup and honey are perfect for this. The amount differs depending on how sweet you want your shake to be. For me, I always add a few teaspoons.
Now comes the modifying part. The following are all optional ingredients. However, what you can put in your shake is not limited to these things, so be creative!
Frozen berries
Frozen or fresh fruit
Greens such as spinach
Yogurt
Vanilla extract
Cacao powder
Matcha powder
Now that all of the ingredients are assembled, all you have to do is to throw them in a blender and go vroom! Easy peasy. I think that everyone should start making and drinking these protein shakes regularly because of how easy they are to make!
