Regeneron Science Talent Search (STS) is the world’s oldest and most prestigious science competition for high school students. Each year, almost 2000 students from around the world submit their original research in order for a chance to win up to $250,000! History
STS began in 1942, originally sponsored by Westinghouse Electric Corporation. In 1998, Intel became its sponsor, and finally in 2016, the title was moved to Regeneron. Since its beginning, almost 150,000 have submitted research into this prestigious competition. Science Talent Search Alumni include:

What does the application process look like?
The application process is extremely competitive, and involves quite a lot of preparation. First, let’s talk about the eligibility requirements:
- must be currently attending 12th grade
- lives in the United States
- must complete individual research (research conducted as part of a pre-collegiate student team project is not eligible)

Awards
Taken directly from the 2022 rulebook:
“The Regeneron Science Talent Search recognizes 300 students as scholars and awards their schools each year and invites 40 student finalists to Washington, D.C. to participate in final judging, display their work to the public, and meet with notable scientists and government leaders.”
- Top 300 Scholars receive $2000 (The schools of each Scholar will each receive an award of $2,000)
- Top 40 Finalists receive an all-expenses-paid trip to Washington D.C. where they will go through interviews and present their research to the public. All finalists will also receive a minimum of $25,000.
- For students receiving over $20,000, the money will go towards paying for higher education
